A STROLL THROUGH THE OLIVE GROVES AND PINE FORESTS OF SAINT GERVASY.

To take this stroll and see all there is to see in Saint Gervasy you are advised to leave your car in the car park near the football field.

Two walks are possible. The shortest involves walking alongside the stadium in the direction of Cabrières. After the stadium, at the junction of the Virgin ( Madone des Champs ) turn left, go over the bridge over the motorway and go down the road on the right. Here you go past olive groves and orchards. After a ten-minute walk you get to the road to Cabrières. Go straight across and walk along parallel to the motorway for 400 metres. Then turn left and follow the path up through the pine forest divided by several pleasant fire-breaks. Near the top of the hill take the left fork and go up to the top of Péchicard hill where you will find the Chapel.

From here there is a magnificent view. Looking from the north-east to the south-west one can see the Mont Ventoux, the Aramon thermal power station chimney, the Lubéron hills, the hills around Beaucaire, the Alpilles and Saint Rémy de Provence, the Crau plain, ( when it exceptionally fine the smoke from the petrol refineries in Fos sur Mer ), the Garons plateau and Nîmes. To go back to the village, take the steep path that takes you down to the Departmental Road 3. Go through the little village streets to get back to the car park.

There is another route possible for those who are braver ( indicated in blue on the map ) which involves going down Saint Didier Avenue and following the tarmac road as far as it goes. Then turn right towards the Moulin Souchon which is a rare example of a water and wind mill. To get back to the first part of the walk, follow the motorway towards the village.
